Recording Studio Opens In Rockville

 

VERNON, Conn. -- Three local business owners who have spent years opening and designing Rockville USA Recording and Video hope to help make Connecticut a destination for the entertainment industry.

 

"Back in 2000, we realized that this was a great fertile ground for film industries and television," said Wayne Holmes, a co-owner of the business.

 

Channel 3 Eyewitness News reporter Teresa LaBarbera reported the hope is to attract media moguls to Connecticut by providing a facility with all the necessities.

 

"We made sure it wasn't just about digital or video. It was also about music and recording -- it's a very important aspect," House Speaker James Amann said.

With the help of a Senate bill that promotes the film industry in Connecticut, and the Hollywood East Task Force, which is backed by Amman's office, the owners said the tax incentives were very appealing.

 

With it's unique design and decor, Rockville USA Recording and Video has all the equipment needed to create movies, videos, television shows and music, LaBarbera said.

 

"When we do strings, it's like a Viennese parlor. When a rock band is here, it's like a castle, it's what you make of it in your own mind," Holmes said. "I think the vision of the place, when you're recording audio, actually helps in the inspiration of putting your best work down."

 

Rockville USA Recording and Video just opened Tuesday. So far, they have at least eight local bands that have recorded LPs.
